First ever website… Well most people will answer no to that question and that is mostly because we probably didn’t even own a computer back in 1989. I can remember seeing the internet for the first time in 1992 and to me it looked like a boring computer word document. But of course back then it was more about sharing information and not so much about design, presentation and imagery – how things have changed!

Back Then and Now

Tim Berners-Lee a British scientist at CERN invented the World Wide Web (WWW) in 1989.

Most of us today take the internet for granted – for kids especially it has always been there but of course for the older generations we can remember a world before the internet.

These days we can watch tv online, search for local businesses and services, buy products from the comfort of our own homes and play games and a million other things. Over the past few years its became even more crazy as we can do all of the above on the move via our mobile phones and tablet devices.

It is very important in today’s business world for each and every business to be on the internet, you’ll search far and wide to find a business that isn’t on the internet in some way. Businesses today can be found on the internet via online directories, social media pages, video sites and of course their own dedicated websites.

As a website designer I find it very interesting to see how things have evolved since 1989, over the past 10 years alone I have seen so much change and this continues to happen each and everyday and at a faster pace than its ever been. This is why it is so much important that businesses advertise via their own website because if they don’t they will be missing out on potential business and of course that is where we come in.
